Hello and Happy February PCA Members,

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need your help! The PCA has been granted an AGLC fundraising casino and we still have some volunteer spaces to fill. Here are the details:

When: April 29 and 30, 2025 (evening shifts)

Where: ACE Casino Blackfoot

What: Casino volunteers (no experience required)

This casino only happens once every few years and is the biggest single source of revenue for our non profit community association. The money from this casino helps the PCA upkeep community facilities, such as the hall, skating rink, old school house/library and tennis and pickleball courts. It also allows the PCA to put on programs and events for our community.

We would be so grateful if you would consider filling one of the 12 remaining shifts. Please direct your inquiries to our casino volunteer coordinators, Carmen and Wayne, at heinen3cw@gmail.com

CURRENT PROGRAMS:

Yoga:

The next session runs from February 6- March 3. Classes take place on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:30pm at the Hall. The cost for the session is $160. Please email our instructor to register at loricwbffpro@gmail.com

Indoor Pickleball:

The hall is open most Sundays and Thursdays for PCA members wanting to play indoor pickleball. You must reserve your spot ahead of time throught the following link and sign a waiver provided at your first visit:

Playgroup:

Thanks to a wonderful community volunteer, playgroup is back up and running every Wednesday from 10am-noon. Bring your child(ren) to play while you visit with other community parents or get some work done. This program takes place in the preschool room (basement) at the hall and is free for PCA members. Please note that this is a parented program.

Library:

Did you know that Priddis has its very own library? Drop by the old school house on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-5pm or Saturdays from 10-noon. The volunteers would love to show you the massive collection of books available to borrow.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

WinterFest:

We hope you will join us on Sunday February 9 from 3-5pm for Priddis WinterFest. This event is free for PCA members and will feature skating, music, campfires, s’mores and hot chocolate. We will also have a BBQ and Bar available for purchase (cash or card).

Shinny Tournament:

While registration for this fun event is full, we would like to invite you to come on down on Feb 23 to take in the action. In addition to exciting hockey and a great atmosphere, we will be offering a breakfast concession and a BBQ and Beer Garden later in the day. Admission is free and it is sure to be a fun day.

We are quickly approaching our Annual Fall Supper - we changed it up a bit this year and added live music, changed up our dinner menu to include more variety and have gluten free options.

However, we require numbers for our caterer by Tuesday November 12th at 6pm in order to move this wonderful event forward!!

Please come out and meet your neighbours, enjoy a delicious meal with your family, listen to some old fashioned rock n’ roll that will be sure to get your feet tapping!! We promise during dinner the music won’t be too loud!!

I have attached the link below for ticket purchases - kids 6-12 are 1/2 price and kids under 6 are free!!

We look forward to seeing all of you there!!

Your PCA Board

Hello and Happy Fall Priddis! We have a lot of exciting events coming up before the end of 2024 so be sure you follow us on social media to stay up to date on all of the things happening in our community.

Pickleball Tournament:

The PCA would like to send a huge thank you to JPS Furnace and Air Conditioning for all of their work making our first community pickleball tournament such a success. In addition to sponsoring the event on October 5, their team worked behind the scenes and on the ground the day of the event in order to make sure everything ran smoothly. Everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to hosting another Pickleball tournament in the spring.

Cyclist Meeting:

On October 22 the PCA partnered with Foothills County to host a public meeting regarding cyclists in our community.

The panel included representatives from the PCA, Foothills County councilors and managers, bylaw officers and RCMP. There were over 40 attendees at the meeting which included area residents, area residents who are also cyclists, and spokespersons from various cycling clubs from outside of our community

Key thoughts shared:

  • Safety concerns on the road

  • Conflicts between cyclists and residents

  • Lack of space for that many extra cars coming into our community

  • Costs incurred by the community association as a result of cyclists visiting our community

Things to be explored before next cycling season:

  • Outreach and communication with cyclists

  • Educational signage

  • Implementing paid parking for cyclists

  • Adding parking options on municipal land within the Hamlet of Priddis to ease the strain on the community hall lot

Yoga:

Our last session of yoga for 2024 will take place from November 11- December 12. Classes take place from 7:30-8:30pm on Mondays and Thursdays at the Priddis Hall. This is a registered program and the cost of the 10 class session is $200. Email the instructor to register at loricwbffproh@gmail.com

Act fast as the last session was full!
